In a vertical autoclave, the entry point to the sterilization chamber, where objects are sterilized, is situated at the top of the device. As standard these autoclaves feature an access door or lid at the top. This lid is typically operated by a wheel mechanism, where rotating the wheel to the left or right will respectively close or open the lid.
