What are the features of tabletop autoclaves?
The tabletop design stands out for its innovative engineering, which optimizes chamber space within a compact assembly of components all housed within its compact form. This design is particularly suited for environments with limited space, such as laboratory benches, where countertop real estate is at a premium. Equipped with advanced microprocessors, these machines ensure meticulous control of key parameters such as temperature, pressure and time. In addition, some models allow the results of all programs to be digitally recorded to ensure compliance with regulations and quality standards.
Tabletop autoclaves lead the way in safety, equipped with comprehensive safety features like pressure sensors, automatic door locks, and visual and audible alarms, alongside fault detection systems, to mitigate risks and prevent unsafe use. By employing strategies such as heat recovery and built-in condensing systems and water tanks, these units operate with minimal resource consumption.
In relation to their operability, there are several technologies available on the market, being the tabletop autoclaves with Pre and Post-vacuum the most recognized. After loading the materials into the device, distilled water is added in a specialized compartment to generate pure steam. An essential step involves expelling air from the chamber, since air can impede steam penetration and compromise sterilization efficacy. This is achieved using vacuum pumps and pulses of saturated steam that effectively remove any air.
Once it has been ensured that the entire chamber is filled with steam and the correct temperature has been reached, the sterilization phase begins. Here, saturated steam penetrates deep into the materials at a temperature of 121°C and 3 Bars pressure. Certain autoclaves also feature a drying phase following sterilization. This involves a post-sterilization vacuum, called Post-vacuum, and a heating jacket around the chamber’s exterior to ensure the complete removal of moisture from solid materials, making them immediately ready for use or storage.
Tabletop autoclaves are indispensable in the healthcare sector for sterilizing metal tools and minor implants in settings like medical clinics, veterinary practices, dental offices, tattoo shops, and podiatry clinics. In the pharmaceutical sector, these autoclaves are employed in quality control laboratories to ensure the sterility of drugs and vaccines during production. Meanwhile, in the food industry, canning and packaging firms utilize these autoclaves in research and development to sterilize their products on a smaller scale.
Tabletop autoclaves encapsulate the perfect amalgam of advanced engineering, precision and convenience. Its widespread adoption in various fields is testimony to the imperative need for reliable sterilization in contexts where industrial-scale infrastructure is not practicable or required.
Tabletop autoclaves of certified quality
At RAYPA, we have a wide variety of tabletop autoclaves of certified-quality. Our product portfolio includes several models with this configuration, including those from the AVS-N, AHS-N, AHS-DRY and AHS-B Series of the Classic Line.
The Classic Line range of tabletop autoclaves can also be equipped with multiple accessories, such as a frame with up to 5 trays, a stainless steel table with wheels to place the autoclave, a flexible probe for processing liquids, an external management software or an integrated ticket printer.
The success and security of sterilization processes are fundamentally tied to the reliability of the equipment used, a key factor in maintaining quality standards in healthcare environments. This level of trust is equally essential in research and manufacturing fields. In acknowledgment of this necessity, we produce all our tabletop autoclaves exclusively at our facilities in Barcelona, ensuring unmatched dependability and performance.
For this purpose, these equipment undergo exhaustive tests to ensure their quality and to comply with the most stringent regulations and standards, including the European Pressure Equipment Directive (PED).
